Which version of FF do you have? Is it the latest beta version? As for your fan ... could it be clogged up maybe? Dust etc. Yes, I know that's probably quoting the obvious here but ... was just wondering.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Is it a desktop PC or a laptop .
Either way it sounds like the PC needs a bit of dust cleaning out of it .0 -
I would say that if it was just running all the time, it needs cleaning, however if it's louder than normal, it might need replacing. I had to get the fan in my laptop replaced, after it got really loud. (Sounded nearly like it was catching on something)Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Also, if you do have the latest FF ... it's full of bugs ... just had to sort one out myself in the last few minutes before reading this thread.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Look in task manager to see if a process is hogging the cpu0
-
its a desktop
FF version is 3.0.10
Task Manager FF is 214k0 -
In Task Manager:
(i) On the Performance tab, is the CPU History Graph (or graphs) showing a line near the top (100%)?
(ii) On the Processes tab look for "firefox.exe *32" (or similar) - does the CPU column show a percentage near 99?
Both of these would indicate Firefox is using the CPU intensively, and the fan probably sounds louder than normal as it is running faster than normal to cool the CPU.0 -
FF 3.10. Figures. BTW, if you've ever had the annoying 'jar' file error when searching on Mozilla, this is how to fix it:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=934345&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=30
You may already have done, but it's what I was fixing before I read your thread here. So thought to pass it on, may be useful to others using FF with the same annoying problem, too.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. 33%
cpu - 25 - 280 -
What about the rest of the processes, see the cpu usage graph, performance tab, with and without FF running.
What are you doing within firefox, any video playing?
Have you got a good virus scanner? How much memory do you have, which operating system?
If firefox is sat idle, viewing a static webpage, it should be around 0%-1% of cpu, and memory much less than 214k (assuming you have just launched it, and have no or minimal plugins installed)0
