    Well, I guess they have to be a bit cautious but to be honest, they have your name and address and if you were a burglar and the house was empty you wouldnt even bother to take photos I wouldnt think - let alone make an appointment to view it.

    I always took photos. Only once did the vendor (present) ask me not to. Just go ahead and take the pictures. They are an invaluable reference afterwards.
    Try to get something of a known size (e.g. a magazine or chair) in the picture, so you can gauge scale.
