incapacity benefit and savings

Hi all,
I could really use some advice, My partner claims incapacity benefit for himself and i am due to inherit a large sum of money, does anyone know if incapacity benefit is affected by savings. Any help gratefully received.

    Incapacity Benefit is not affected by savings. If he is claiming IS due to Incapacity it would be affected if it takes him over £6000 and benefit would stop if it takes him over £16000.
  • Contributions based esa is not affected by savings,neither is the old incapacity benefit

    i had a feeling this was the case, do you know then if we need to inform the benefits department of the money.

    If he is on Incapacity Benefit you do not need to inform the DWP.

    Before you jump for joy too much, if he's claiming money for housing and council tax then this will be affected.
