PayPal Dispute - Buyer Protection? I don't think so

So I brought some merchandise online through paypal, which were never posted £225 was paid for them. Didn't think twice about paying for them as Paypal was so "buyer friendly" and offered "buyer protection". When I did not receive the goods I obivously raised a dispute. To my disgust this is the email I received today after 3 weeks to say they have closed the case --

We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your
favour.

We were able to recover 6.69 GBP, and this amount has been credited to you.
Please allow five working days for this adjustment to be posted.

If you are due any additional funds, we will make our best effort to
recover the balance from the seller.

If the seller's account has insufficient funds to complete the refund owed
to you, please be assured that we will take appropriate action against the
seller's account, which may include limitation of the seller's account
privileges.

Are they being serious? Is that all they can do? Like I care what limitations they put on his poxy account wheres the rest of my £225?

If I paid using my credit card through paypal is it worht raising it with the credit card company to see if their any better??

Sorry for the rant....

Dan.

Do you not have a contact number or address for the person you bought from as you could tkae them to the small claims court i guess

Worth a try, if not it would be worth a small claims. you could get their details from Ebay.

Well It is protection given by your bank (on a Credit card only though)

They should refund you the whole £225.
  • Thanks. Could anyone tell me how I go about doing this and what it involves??

I have the impression from the original post this is not an ebay purchase and that is why it is not covered. The purchase must be on ebay to get full buyer protection.

Re-read it and you're right so ignore the bit about details from ebay, the small claims bit would still be a viable route though.
