when starting a company does the company secretary get a credit check by the the bank when opening an account?

It will depend on the bank - each will have its own protocol.
If the company secretary is to be a cheque signatory or have any powers as to bank transactions, then I would expect they would do the check, but if there are, say, two or more directors (who aren't also the co sec) who are signatories, then they probably wouldn't.0 -
