Could anybody tell me,an accident occurring 18 months ago and settled by both parties could now be resurrected by an Insurance Company?
My Brother in Law was hit from behind while reversing out of a supermarket car park 18 months ago and both parties lost their no claims bonuses.
Today,my Brother in Law received a letter from the other parties insurance company (Hastings) requesting information on the accident from August 2007 and telling him to do a diagram of the position of the vehicles etc and also fill in a form describing what happened.
As this took place 18 months ago, does anyone know why this issue is still ongoing or is the 3rd party trying to pull a fast one.
Could this be because the other driver has changed companies and they need details of the loss of his no claims?
Would appreciate any help on this issue if possible please.
Cheers in advance.

Find it a bit odd that the other parties insurers asking him directly to fill in forms, i certainly would not reply to them and forward them to his insurers at the time for comments / find out what happening, its possible its still being disputed especially if an injury claim has since come in, ( 3 years to claim injury)0

Thankyou Atermis..I have told my B.I.Law and he appreciates your advice and will follow your guide tomorrow and redirect the issue to the Insurance Company for them to sort out.

There are 3 years to claim for injury and 6 years for vehicle damage.
It is possible that it has not all been settled within 18 months.
But as you've already been advised, refer to insurance and don't correspond with anyone else (except perhaps to say "it's been passed to insurers don't contact me, contact them").0
