Moving to another village/city

Hi,
not sure where to put this thread but I'll be moving to another city in a few months time. I guess I need to warn my current village to stop paying council tax and I need so register in my new city. Do the different councils also contact each other concerning this move?
I'm a foreigner and I have no idea how this goes. In Belgium you move to another city and this council warns the former city of your move.

No, Bjornki, it's your responsibility to inform both councils, your existing and your new Council, of your move.
I assume you're definitely moving out of the Council's area? You could move quite a distance and still remain with the same council in some parts of the country..0 -
I'm moving from West-Sussex to Berkeshire so the council will certainly change. (I guess)

No, I wouldn't have thought you needed to tell them where you're going TO.0
