Help!
My son's XBox 360 elite only came back from Germany last Friday after a repair for the 3 Red Rings of Death!
It has just died again with the same thing!!!
He has switched it off for a while in the hope that cooling it down will work (obviosly it's hot today). If not he is going to have to send it off again!! (3rd time!)
Is there an external fan he could use once it is repaired to try & stop this happening again as I understand fitting an internal one would void his warranty?
Thanks

Some people argue that because some of these 'external fans' fit to the back so closely, they cause more heat to be trapped, instead of making it flow faster.
Personally, I tend to use an air purifier (with 3 speed settings) to blow cool, clean air onto the side of my console. I blow the air onto the side because while keeping the internal components cooler than normal, it does not provoke conflict between 2 different air flows if it was blowing 'into' the back. Just a suggestion, but I highly recommend it.
Another thought- do you keep the serial number of the console before it is sent to Germany? Sometimes Microsoft just send out a refurbished console as soon as they recieve yours instead of actually repairing your one. The newer gen of elites have improved ventilation systems so you might be just getting the older one when you send yours off? Hope I make sense lol!The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

they do not ehlp the problem atall as mentioned
the fault occurs because althought the 360 fans are slightly small for their job, they are capable, but some souche thought it would be a good idea to put 4 chips on the underside of the mainboard where no ventilation can reach it, hence why the fault occers and why extra fans will not help
you cant cool it if you cant get to it
your best bet is to keep the side of the xbox very cool indeed
honestly i cant remember which side, sorry but just put it near a cool place and maybe use fans to cool the sides as the chips in question are covered by a layer of silicon heat protection that is pressed up against the side and disperses the heat through the case
hangon i just found a picture

its those 4 large black chips just off centre that cause the issue
by the looks of it, if you had the xbox upright, they are on the left side so yeh do what you will with the info
hope i helpedBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -

Seems like a MAJOR flaw on microsofts behalf if theyre THAT prone to overheating.
OP ~ if yours keeps doing this then clearly you need a rethink about where you use it.:idea:0 -
