Were thinking od relocationg further up north so we can get on the property ladder. Places are cheaper for us up there. Was wondering if anyone can point me out some nice place near Northampton or Milton Keynes area?
I have small children so need good schools, parks, open spaces etc.
Our budget is 100k and we really need a 3 (possibly big 2 bed) house.
Hope someone can help:D Hoping to drive round there in the next month to get a feel for the place.

100k wont buy you much in that budget range.... unless u fancy buying a place around essington colliery?
How about a detached chicken coop? For everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -
for a 'nice place' i think you are looking at a 2 bed flat tops.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
What is your thinking behind choosing Northampton/Milton Keynes?
What about the other direction?
Is it time? Distance? Region? that's most important0 -
MK isn't cheap place to buy, it's easy commute to London, Northampton is cheaper, but at your price range you're looking at ex council/dev corp houses. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Hi,
I think people are being a little bit negative here and not too helpful for you. I lived in Northampton and I lived in kingsthorpe for over 20 years. I have just this second had a look on rightmove (I cant post the link as I am new) . Kingsthorpe is a nice area in northampton and not expensive.
There's a 3 bed decent sized house on at £94,995 'osborne road, kingsthorpe, northampton'. Thats a nice area and the price is in your range. Have a look at it on rightmove.com0 -

In Northampton - Abington, Duston and Kingsley are good areas but the prices do reflect that, however they all have little bits that are to be avoided too.
I live in Kings Heath and it's ok, ex council houses but they are spacious and light, good sized gardens. It's definitely not the best area but like above, it depends which street you are in but it is much better than where we used to live in Northampton.
Take a tip and just avoid Southfields like the plague! It was just awful with lots of joy riding, vandalism, pretty dirty area with rubbish and cars dumped and nasty people etc etc. Don't let the estate agents descriptions of Southfields being a "popular residentential area" sway you, it is awful and I would never live there again.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0
