My 1.8 Ford Focus failed its MOT because the Lambda reading is 1.92 in contrast to the 0.93 to 1.03 required range. I don’t have the equipment to test the Lambda, and I have been told by the tester that either there is a problem with the Lambda or the catalytic converter.
Does anyone know of a decent garage which can do this in the Bournemouth area?

I'd start with the Lambda sensor, it's about 30-60 quid for a generic replacement one, and removing it isn't much harder than removing a spark plug. Don't pay a garage for it.
