council housing

I currently have a 3 bedroom semi,that I am letting out.
What I want to know is, do councils or housing associations look for propertys that they can use to re-house people?
As I am moving abroad and would prefer them to look after the house, rather than an agent.
Owing on CC £00.00 :j

A lot of councils & HA do rent privately owned properties from owners to rehouse people into. Many are looking for a 3 or 5 yr mininum period & rent & repairs are guaranteed.

Contact your local council & any neighbouring councils to ask about any such schemes that they operate.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

They do, each area is different though. Where I used to live I enquired about that and the amount they'd pay was about 45% of what a private rental might achieve. Somebody else I knew at the time, with (imho) a much more lettable and lovely 2-bed large semi with a nice garden in a good area for access to work and services enquired of the same council and they said they didn't want his at all. Both our houses were in an area of an extreme shortage, list even for priority/emergency/high need was likely to be a 4 year wait, so it wasn't that they had a short list.

So, the thing is, don't assume they will have it and don't assume the rent will cover your need.
