E-cheques!!!

Help, think Ive been done! A buyer purchased some stuff from me on Ebay and paid via E-cheque. I was advised that I would have to wait 7-9 days for this to clear and I would receive confirmation when it did.
Two days ago, I received an email saying funds were now available, I checked my paypal account and the funds were there, so I posted the parcel.
Today I have received another email saying the e-cheque has failed and not to post the item. ARRGGHHH!
I have emailed the buyer, but as yet had no response. Do I have a leg to stand on? Any suggestions, or help would be appreciated

Hello,
Was the item sent trackable ?
Speak to Paypal i've had one do this before and got the funds back off it.
I think the problem is called an A C H return which is something to do with the buyers bank account.
I don't have access to my works inbox till monday but if you have no luck on the phone ill dig out the emails from the paypal account manager that sent me the info. on what to do.
Think the important part thought is you need tracking details.0 -
Thanks for that, however I dont have tracking details. It was only a small jiffy bag and the total cost was about £5 so just popped it in postbox. Its not the money so much, its just the principle. I dont think its the buyers fault as she did email me and said she didnt really understand how e-cheques worked and to let her know if there was a problem. However, now I cant get a reponse from her, and she has got her parcel (presumably), so Im just a bit naffed off. I blame Paypal as they did tell me funds had cleared and the money was showing in my account, so obviously I thought that was it!
Ive never had an e-cheque before, dont know what the difference is between that and normal paypal payment, and certainly dont want another one, although I suppose Ive learnt my lesson for next time!!!
Now, my Ebay account is prompting me to send her a non-paying bidder reminder. Should I do this, or wait another couple of days to see if she responds, or just chalk it up to (bad) experience?
Any thoughts???:kisses2:

Get their details and give them a call.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Not sure what is going on, Ive had a response from buyer saying she has re-sent the money, have checked paypal and the original money she sent seems to be there, however ive had no notification from paypal that the money has been received. Strange one!!!
Anyways, Im gonna assume it has been paid and everythings fine, thanks for your help guys. Heres hoping I dont get another e-cheque:eek::kisses2:

I didn't know there could bounce! I receive one every so often and have to wait about 2 weeks for it to clear, but always send the item straight away once paypal tell me to. Why do people use these anyway, why don't they just pay in the normal way?0

I don't think paypal actually give them the choice do they? It just happens because of the way their bank funding is set up (or at least that's what I always thought)flipper_2010 wrote: »I didn't know there could bounce! This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

Oh right, How come they don't just set it up like everyone else and have it come straight out of their bank account

Isn't that what an e-cheque is?0 -
I have my paypal account linked to my bank account, and if there isnt any money available in the paypal account then it takes it out of my bank, but since my credit card expired, it now goes as an e-cheque.
I refuse to get a credit card just to make paypal happy.0 -
Ah is that what it is then? Instead of credit/debit card it comes out of your bank? That makes sense (if I've got the right end of the stick anyway- which I probably haven'tI have my paypal account linked to my bank account, and if there isnt any money available in the paypal account then it takes it out of my bank, but since my credit card expired, it now goes as an e-cheque.

) They are a royal pain though- we've got two of them open, and I'm convinced that buyers will mark lower since it takes longer, even though it's not our fault.
