DFS "Ink Away" Stick

Not a vent as such but wanted to warn people against using the "Ink Away" stick that comes in the Cherish leather care box that they push upon you as it's the best according to them.
Had a biro mark on my leather chair thats part of my suite that we've had since March. My suite is chocolate brown and the pen was black. Followed the instructions to the letter, checked the stick on a concealed area of the chair etc and it didn't react with it etc. When I come to remove the pen mark, I used a dry cloth and rubbed gently with the end of my finger and not only has it took the pen away, but also the dye off the leather. It's not really that noticable, but I know it's there. To be honest I would have been better off leaving the biro where it was.
I wouldn't be so bothered if it was something I had bought from somewhere else, but it's what DFS recommend and put their name on.
We didn't actually pay for these leather kits, they were thrown in as a goodwill gesture, as apparently they cost £50.
I have phoned DFS and they are sending someone round on Tuesday to have a look. I will update you on it.

Do post and let me know what happens. We're about to take the plunge and buy a new sofa from DFS. It's not in the current sale, so I'm waiting to see what the offerings are after it ends on Sunday. The salesman assures me that quality of sofa won't end up in the sale (). Would be interested to know if you managed to negotiate anything when you bought it. The ones I'm interested in will be just over £2k at full price. Now proud Mumto3 :j0

bought 2 rather expensive dfs sofas think they're called havanna for £1k each and received them a year ago, i gullably got fobbed off with the leather care kit which was about £25 quid. all it has in there are a dozen cloths equivalent to wet wipes. used them a little while ago and you need 4-5 for 1 sofa it's a joke and a con don't bother buying them.
Also signed up for the buy now pay nothing for first year blah blah blah
then month after sofa arrived received letter from bank saying payments will commence in 2 weeks. so double check with salesman before you sign.0 -
we bought our house and moved in Feb 08, at the time looking for a new sofa we went to DFS lured by the prices.
It was a Sunday morning, obviously their sales 'end' on a Sunday (so the new ones can start on Monday).
So we went in and had a wander round, so we found one we quite liked and had a little sit down on it, quite comfortable as well.
So over comes the assistant, nice at first, obviously on the charm offensive. Chat to his for a few minutes, and he gives us prices for a 2 pieces set. All was fine until OH asked for dimensions of the sofas, then was met with a very huffy 'why do you want that attitude'. So dutifully he stomped off to get a tape measure so we could get the correct dimensions to see if it would fit through our new doors.
Now obviously this is a big purchase and having just bought the house it was a big expense for us so we wanted to have a chat about it first before commiting to buying anything. This was treated like a criminal act, the assistant was just downright rude after that, 'why do you want to discuss it?' 'the sale ends today' 'where do you live? you mean you're going to go the whole way there and back?' etc etc. needless to say we were totally disgusted by his bonus hunting attitude and left the store, then went to another furniture shop.
I now refuse to set foot into any DFS again after being treated in such a way when we were spending so much money.

I bought a very expensive white leather suite(what was I thinking) from dfs, 11 months later I called them to come and check the sofa as on parts the leather had come off altogether, The chap who came said and I quote " It is like when you buy white trainers, the leather comes off" and also what do you expect for 2 thousand !!!!!! I expect a suite that is suitable for use, At the time I never thought to take it further but god I wish I had, The suites are soooo bad quality, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.................0
