new suite

Received my new 3 and 2 seater leather suite 3.3.06. :T
The guys that delivered it couldn't wait to go left it wrapped in a fashion as they had had to cut plastic to get cushions off to get suite through door.
When i eventaully took off wrapping there were 2 nicks in back of 2 seater obvious stanley knife blade marks.
a mark, and leather was not pulled taught enough on 3 seater. I rang straight away.
Last wednesday man came took his pictures offered to repair 2 nicks, i said no i want what i've ordered. said he would do his report and contact SCS again in 7 - 10 days.
10 days being today I contacted them They cannot give me any advice on report or where i stand will be in touch.

Just wanted to know any ideas where i stand, what to say. Am i within my right to ask for what i ordered.
I have yet to pay for this suite and am glad have not paid anything yet.
Yes i took out 5 year warranty but i did not mark or cut my furniture.
just have to wait for a reply now.
thanx in advance

Thanx for the reply and yours is lovely.

I have ME an invisible illness so these guys must of thought she'll be ok.
well i couldn't wait for hubby to get home could i so i did and bit and stopped etc etc with getting wrapping off. Consequently making myself feel ill after the whole thing.

We had the pay in installments or on six month date agreed or pay interest thought it best to keep the money in my account to gain interest then pay before the deadline.

thing is we had to take our time looking because of my dreaded illness so haven't really got the energy to go looking all over again and to be honest we both realy like this one.

Like i say will give it till wednesday 2 weeks since the man with his camera came and did his report.

    thanx again
  • Hi. When you have the energy, send them a letter (recorded delivery) telling them that you are rejecting the goods as not fit for purpose. Give them a deadline for collecting the goods (7 days is reasonable), and tell them that after that ime you will charge them storage charges for storing THEIR suite. As you have rejected the suite, it is theirs, not yours.

For such large items as these, a suggest a figure of £50 each per week or part thereof would be reasonable.

If you do not feel up to this, get hubby to write to them.

I shared a flat at uni with a girl who had ME, so I have some idea how you are feeling. Hope you get this resolved soon.

thats awful! - We had exactly the same thing happen to us a few years ago, new suite was cut with stanley knife when the plastic was being taken off but I did not notice it until delivery men had left. I played my face so badly they eventually replaced the whole thing, like they should do with you. I know you are ill but try and stand your ground if you can, don't let them get away with this. Also, and I don't know if this is going to be helpful or not but I had another problem with a delivery driver once who delivered a dishwasher and proceeded to scratch the laminate flooring in the kitchen. They refused to pay up so as a last restort I wrote to this guy (I think his name is Fergus in my OH's Woman or Woman's Own magazine - don't laugh, it worked!) and explained the problem to him. Did'nt think anything would come of it but within two weeks he had printed our letter and named and shamed em and made em cough up the money for the repair. These companies don't like being named in magazines etc for bad service. I know its a bit drastic but hey, it worked for us and we got our cash - Good Luck.

relacement suite arrived bit i rejected it.
it was worse than the 1 i was sending back, delivery men very nice pointed out faults to me and fully understood they brought my old 1 back in off lorry.
i rang SCS to expain rejection lady came back from speaking to manager going to replace again. however someone will need to go to depot where it was being taken back to to be checked and have a report done it.she asked did i still want this make and model ERrrrr!!!!! yes i want what i've paid for!!!!!! i did say that if next replacement is not up to standard i will be expecting a full refund
I shall see if i get a phone in a few days if not i will ring and ask for confirmation again and maybe in writing this time.

    Any further advice
    thanx
