heat rash/prickly heat- help suggestions?

I am going on holiday soon and am fair skinned. I will be using factor 30 sun screen but chances are I will still get prickly heat/sun blisters. This usually happens after a few days and basically it puts paid to me staying in the sun and I come up in great big water filled blisters. Last year I used piz buin allergy sun cream. didnt use any body lotions before sunbathing etc or perfume and still got itchy blisters. Has anyone had these and know of a way of stopping them or is it simply a reaction to the body getting too hot. I generally get them on the top of my chest under the neck area

there are certain suncreams that dont help, I understand, but I am afraid I cant tell you which ones. I know I suffer with it myself, I take anti histamines and the cream too. You might be better asking a pharmacist. I find if I stay out of the sun for a bit that helps too, if I get it. It pays to have the anti histamine though because that really does help if you get it

    Hi

I also suffer with heat rash/prickly heat. I was told to use a high protection sunscreen with Titanium Dioxide in it and it has worked for me.

If you do get it witch hazel helps to cool it.
There is another thread, if you do a search on prickly heat

P20 helped me. You apply around 30 minutes before going in to the sun, and it lasts more or less all day.

your GP is able to prescribe sun cream apparently, I would discuss it with him, see which one he may feel best suits this condition.

Another sufferer here, another vote for anti-histamines, I have to admit I have found its got better as I got older (first got it at 15 now 25). Also I found building up sun exposure seems to help, I do find sun cream helps and often find its worse on places I forget to put sun cream usually my feet!

I use magicool spray which helps a bit, it's nice and soothing to spray on.

I suffer from this and am not particularly fair skinned, it started in my early 30s, prior to that I had no problems. It is called PMLE (polymorphic light erruption) if it is all over your body, rather than just in the "sweaty" areas. which would probably be prickly heat. The only think that works as far as I can gather. apart staying out of the sun, is a very high factor sun cream, put on an hour before going into the sun so that it is absorbed, and used regularly throughout the day, I use 50+. On holiday last week I managed to get to day 5 with no rash :j. I got a bit careless on day 6 and am now covered in red itchy blister like spots. Not pretty.

If anyone has any more information on PMLE I would be eternally grateful.

My mother went to the docs today for this and he just told her to stay out of the sun (cant really, we are going to Cyprus in July for my brothers wedding), and wear a hat, or go see the chemist

So OP hopefully you have a better GP :(
