Egg Money new card, low limit - anyone successfully requested higher?

The subject says it all really. I applied for Egg Money on Wednesday, was accepted online, with a credit limit of £500.

I currently have two CCs (Nationwide and Accucard) both of which have a limit of £1500.

My intention was to close the Accucard and replace it with Egg Money, but the low credit limit could cause problems (my monthly spending varies considerably from month to month - usually between £250 and £700 - so a £500 limit isn't enough to comfortably contain 50 days worth of spending).

I don't want to pre-load the Egg Money account since that basically negates half the effects of a CC (would rather keep the money in an e-savings account earning more interest!).

Has anyone been in a similar situation (granted a low limit from Egg Money), and do you think if I explain the situation (that I want to close another card with a £1500 limit) they might raise it slightly? I'd settle for about £1000...

I think it depends on your circumstances.I f you have a decent job, homeowner, registered on electoral roll and with good credit record then you are likely to be given decent credit limit.Hope that helps.
