57 year old insurance for old van- cheapest?

Need basic insurance for me to drive van, not being used commercially, just a run about. Already have many years no claims with current insurer (already own a car) and have tried them and they were very expensive. Anyone out there know of a cheap insurer please?

I'm not an expert on insurance, but from previous friends experience insurance companies tend to view commercial vehicles as being used for business purposes.
I don't know if Saga do commercial vehicle insurance but they seem to work out well for me as I insure a new mini fully comp and a suzuki vitara 3rd party only and they are very helpful on the phone.

Just read further down this thread and someone has posted that Swinton are doing 1/3rd off van insurance. Hope this helps.

More Than do a vanshield policy iirc.

I'm afraid there is no magic answer since all insurers will vary in their apetite for certain risks. Claims / conviction history and geographical location are also major factors.

When you say the van is old, do you mean old as in a classic? If so, is there an owners club? Sometimes they have insurance schemes set up with special rates. Certainly seen it with cars, e.g. MG / Mini but not so sure about vans.

Well, there you go - Transit Van Owners Club - http://fordtransit.org/forum/ - bound to be something on their discussion forum but you need to be a member.
