It's not a place I would want to rent a car in. The drivers are complete animals. Stick to taxis, they are cheap enough.

  • No help to you OP, but have to agree with cheesy.mike that the driving and parking (if you can call it that) is horrendous  . We stayed 20 mins away from airport and taxi cost £4.50.
If you really want to hire, it's much cheaper than UK even without a voucher.

I echo the above, the driving out there is crazy. Get a taxi!

I have been there many times, from the 1970s onwards, but need a car to visit the other Emirates, taxis are not practical for this.

Just got back from Dubai and the driving is really terrible. However, if you want to go out and about alot, not worthwhile getting a taxi cos it does add up quite quick. Renting a car would be cheaper. I rented my car from the Thrifty Desk at the airport. It was a Mitsubishi Lancer for £17/day. Not bad i guess. Depending on what kind of car you are looking for.....if its something more classy like Mercedes C200, that is £35/day.

I just got back too, the driving is absolutely crazy. Most we paid for a cab was the airport (£6 with tip). We stayed central and had about 4 cabs a day on gettin round, dearest about 4 quid I think, if we planned it better could certainly got away with less. Where abouts are you stayin that could make a bit of difference, also what about parking, thats also hell in some areas.
Ayshasi, did you book your accommodation at the airport after all, know you were having trouble, where did you stay after all?

Same here, great time, didnt spend half what we thought and brought back lots of gold. Used the beach park rather than pay £30 quid a day and there were lots of all incl food/drink deals to be had, cant wait to get back out there.

Hi, I'm going to Dubai with my husband and children next week. Can't wait! I was just wondering about the beach parks? Are these different to the public beaches? Any other tips would be welcomed. ;)

    Thanks
