Bought one on 8th May and went to bake a loaf on Sunday 28th. Machine did not work and eventually gave up and took back for a refund on Monday. Just seen Racyy Red post re recall; no wonder. Not a bargain on this occasion.
  • I bough one of these, & it is ACE!!!

Fresh bread every morning- the little calves are loving it.

I've adapted a recipe to the size of the tin. It is as follows:-
    290ml water
    2 tbsp sugar
    1(ish) tsp salt
    2 tbsp veg oil
480g flour- have used both Lidl white strong flour & a wholemeal bread flour, both with OK results
2 tsp dried yeast. I started by using a whole sachet, but the mix rose so far that it hit the lid & was a bit soggy. As I use the timer, i put the yeast in a well that I make in the flour, so that it doesn't get wet too soon.

Another great buy from Lidl, in my opinion.

    Happy cow

  • Hi - We have a Bread Maker from Lidl and it has been super. We bought it a couple of years ago or so and, as it was getting a bit old, rushed down in March and got another one to keep for later! You can get spares for these, and they carry the usual Lidl 3 year guarantee.

Someone asked for advice in getting bread out at end of baking. My husband makes the bread (he uses the Lidl sunflower and mixes it with strong white and somehow makes a lovely loaf!). He found in the instructions the time when you can take out the paddles before the final rising (somewhere around 1hr 50mins). This means you don't have big holes in the final product - just the holes matching the paddle shaft. If you wait until the bread has cooked before removing them, wriggle the paddle a little so that you can see their shape, cut around the shape of the paddle using a sharp knife and ease it out. If you have taken out the paddles during cooking and still finds it sticks, with a gloved hand locate the butterflys at the bottom of the pan and move them back and forward a few times before shaking the upside-down tin lightly.

    Hope this helps.
