Does your partner owe the debt?0

Have a look over on the debt boards, there are a number of different approaches to dealing with these debt collectors depending on how old/what the debt is.
Most importantly all the debt charities and every advice forum advise NEVER speak to these companies over the phone. They can and do lie and threaten over the phone and if they get your phone number will harass you shamelessly. They frequently flout the law and OFT guidelines (which is why these sort of companies have had so many fines and why trading standards have so many complaints about them).
Have a read over on the debt boards about statue barred and CCA requests which may help you. Obviously if the debt is nothing to do with your partner at all you just write back and say it is not your debt and you instruct them never to contact you again you don't have to prove anything to them. If they do make a complaint to the ombudsman.
It is up to them to prove they have the right identity to pursue a debt, but frequently then send out fishing letters to people with simular/same names in an area, despite the fact that this breaches debt collection guidence.
Good luck

Hi all,
We've now received 3 letters (all at once) to 'The Occupier' from Apex Discovery Solutions and Apex Credit Management Ltd, are they related to 1st Credit or could it be that because 1st Credit had no success (we didn't contact them) they've sold the debt on? Or does this mean it's been escalated?
Am still nagging my partner to contact the bank, it still hasn't been done!:j Finally sorting out my finances once and for all.....bring on the Excel spreadsheets!!0 -
Hi Astarte,
Is this actually your bill or not?
If not there is a template letter found on this website, just search for the debt health plan and you'll find it half way down the page under the heading "Being chased for a debt that's not yours?".0
