should i be asking for money off/something extra?
hey guys,
bit of a story so here goes lol
went to a car warehouse on 18th may to test drive a 12 month old car, fell in love with it,agreed part ex for mine, paid my £100 deposit and agreed to pick up on 26th may.........on 21st may i got a phone call from their hand over department saying the garage they bought the car from had lost the V5 but they had applied for a new one 3 weeks ago from swansea but can take upto 4 weeks so swansea say.he just wanted to warn me that with the bank holiday the following monday i may not be able to get the car on the tues if the V5 hadnt arrived, the reason had wanted to pick it up on the tue is cos i was working 19 miles away from the garage,a special trip there is 70 miles one way.tuesday rolls round and at work i get a phone message saying the V5 hadnt arrived but they would chase it up with the previous garage and get back to me,heard nothing back that day.i rang on weds morning after not being called back and they guy said their administration dept were chasing it up and he would be back to me,which he did,he confirmed that they garage applied on 1st may for the V5 and it should be here, well there, for mid next week and he would call me as soon as it arrives........this morning i get a phone message to call someone at the garage regarding the V5,the different guy i spoke to said that their administartion dept upon further contact with the original garage had found out they hadnt even applied for the V5 until YESTERDAY when they were chased up.so i am looking at upto a 4 week wait(but did say swansea can sometimes be quick and turn things round in a week)if i still wanted the car but would undertsand if i didnt want to wait and they would give me my deposit back......the thing is i am off to OZ in less than 2 weeks time for 3 weeks,so if it doesnt turn up by then i wont get the car until first week in july, they knew i was going away and said they would keep the car for me until i was back.......so in reality if i got it next week i would only have it a week before i went away then it would be just sat doing nothing for 3 weeks so not a huge loss plus if i dont get it until july at least iv not wasted a months road tax lol
now my question is......should i be cheeky and be asking for some sort of discount or maybe their diamond bright car treatment they tried to flog me or road tax or even fuel in tank for all this trouble?
also
does anyone have any experience with getting a replacement V5 regarding how long it took?
i will say all the way along they have been very sorry that i am having to wait and have appologised numerous times, which is nice but doesnt get me my car does it lol

Tell them you have your eyes on the same type of car much cheaper elsewhere without a trade-in, lol.0

yes, ALWAYS push for money off when buying a car its a buyer's market.0

No harm in asking.
However regarding the tax: I expect its probably not taxed yet and won't be until they get the V5 so you probably won't lose out on that front!0
