acc in maiden name...how do i get the funds??

dont know if this is the correct thread??

ive got £200 in a building society acc but its in my maiden name...my current account at the bank is in married name (although now divorced) ...how do i get the fund out..

the building society acc is a postal thingy with birmingham midshires...

any advice greatfully receied!!!

Howd do you normally get the funds out? Can't you just provide them with a copy of your marriage cert to prove that you have married and changed your name?

Have you tried to get it out yet? It shouldn't make any difference what name it's in, or are they being awkward?

go armed with your marriage certificate and some photo ID and you should be okay?

its a postal accpount so everything through the post!

They will still have procedures in place to enable you to get your funds. You are not the only person to marry and change their name! You should probably ring them and ask what they need from you to get the name changed to your new married name.

Are you inteding to go back to your maiden name now you're divorced? If you're going to, you can change your current account back with your decree absolute and they'll be in the same name again.
