hour cut

hi have been told we are too have a meeting about hours can you be forced to have your hours cut and if they did cut hours and redundency does happen do they calculate the hours you are doing or what you did over the yrs

    They can place you on short time work for up to 4 weeks or 6 weeks in a period of 13 but after that they must make you redundant.

    If they are plnaning to vary your contracted hours they must properly consult with staff and it would ahve to be agreed with you. If you dont agree they can try and impose the chnages but you could also claim constructive dismissal if you felt necessary and you have worked for more than 1 year.

    If you were made redundant because of it then you would be entitled to statutory redundancy which would be based on your normal pay upto a maximum of £350 per week.
