Pinkneonmartini - well done on your fab birthday haul hun, sounds like you had a lovely day! :D

Just £1.25 Valued Opinions and £4 pinecone to report. A pathetic start to the month for me! Lol. Hope it picks up soon. Feel a bit demotivated and rubbish at the moment actually… money stuff is so time consuming and it’s just like one step forward and two steps back! Loads of my cashback hasn’t tracked, some of it’s been extended so I bet it won’t pay out, keep getting screened out of surveys, got nothing left to sell on Ebay etc. Argh!

It’s going to be a very expensive month too…a wedding and hen night to go to, loads of birthdays etc. The wedding we are going to, they’ve asked for cash... which is fair enough….but now I feel like I have to give them more than I’d have spent on a pressie, because they’ll know how much it is! The bride keeps dropping hints at work, like ’oh you lot better not be tight with my wedding money’ (I nearly fell over when she said that!)… and when I picked her a sandwich up from the shop the other day she was like ’I’d better give you the money back for that, don’t want you taking it out of my wedding pressie!’. I wouldn’t mind but they’ve only invited us to the night do, yet they still put a note in with the evening invitations asking for money. Feel pressured to give more than we can really afford now, as I know she will judge people on how much they give :o Also have to pay £80 to the Law Society before I can start my uni course in Sept, and just had to spend £120 on new glasses for driving too, argh! I should actually get half of the cost of the frames back which is nice (was doing a mystery shop) - but my stupid eyes need expensive lenses, which I don‘t think I can claim for. I didn’t ask to be short sighted and blind as a bat, so it adds insult to injury to pay £120 for the pleasure :p Sorry for the rant…it’s just was actually feeling quite positive when I looked at my bank balance after getting paid last week, and now it’s back to a big fat zero again, booooo! Oh well, perhaps it will motivate me. Must try harder!

Attempting to pay off our debts! Balances Jan 2018 -
    Family member £3,700 - Virgin CC £1,000 - MBNA £1,700 - Barclaycard £2,500 (was £2,700) - Halifax CC £1,280

£2.45 from Quidco and £41.77 from eBay sales to add to my total. Off to do my daily clicks.

Money I'm expecting in the near future:
    • I've requested £23.52 from Cashbackchief - 2 of my referrals RobRock & Johannah reached minimum payment threshold so I'll receive referral fee.
    • Confirmations have taken place on Moneybackmadness and I'm going to receive £20.53 - over £12 of this is from competition wins and reload bonus. I've made more from this site from the extras than I have from the daily clicks which is why I rate it so highly even though it only offers 50% cashback.
    • Confirmations have started taking place on Cashbackcascade and I've enough to cash out this month.
    • Going to requested payment from Topcashback but waiting for Searchchief/Cascadecompare transactions to be confirmed.

Nothing to add for me today. glitterjunkie I know what you mean, I feel like I'm not getting anywhere at the moment, everything takes too much time, and I'm not feeling too well so by the time I get home from work I can't be bothered with much else.

Try to not feel pressurised to give more than you can afford as a wedding present! Give it as cash rather than a cheque, and I'm sure by the time they get home from honeymoon they'll have forgotten how much anyone gave them - especially if its cash! Why not include a note with some of your favourite moneysaving/making ideas or a lottery ticket! My hubby has just said with an attitude like that he'd give them nothing at all!

    Hello everyone

Well, good news for me today cos my long running battle with Northern Rock has reached a climax and they put £617.32 into my account today due to a missold PPI (they said they didn't do it but didn't want a fight!). That's great news for my total but July will be pretty unspectacular in comparison!! :T
Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:

    Hi everyone :hello:

Glitterjunkie, I know exactly what you mean there... sometimes you end up giving more than you would normally have spent to stop yourself looking tight.

Honestly though, whether she was kidding or not, I have to agree with ruthie's OH, she deserves nothing for making you feel so pressured. No kidding.
If people ask for money off us for something similar, I'm affraid they get £10 in their card. To some people that won't be anywhere near enough and alot of people would put alot more in. But the people close enough to us know we can't afford to go mad with stuff like that... and the rest's opinions just don't matter I'm affraid. :)
We've got a wedding in August exactly same- want money for their honeymoon... it's not even "friends" as such, it's a workmate of DH and we've never even seen her OH. Turns into an expensive night if you go mad, she'll prob just get £10, or £5 and 5 lucky dips or something.

    xx

Give her a tenner glitter and if she is funny about it then don't loose sleep over it.

I have the same problem with a good mate on mine getting married in August and her parents are loaded so they are spending a small fortune on the wedding. She knows I am saving for mine though so I don't think she would judge me too much if we only gave her a small amount. She already has a house (HUGE deposit paid for my dad) and is having her big day paid for completely.

Whereas I am saving for my first house and we are paying for most of ours apart from the reception which OH parents have kindly offered to pay for.

Just booked my travel insurance for holiday at the weekend - £16 instead of the £40 offered by Thomas Cook. Not counting savings though but its still brilliant
