I recently acquired a Microtek 330UX scanner , but can get it to install in XP.

I haven't got a mnaual, but have got a driver.

Originally it looked like a parallel port connector, but havng looked again and looked in the device manager, it seems to be a 25pin SCSI (device manger asking for SCSI drivers), rather than 25pin parallel.

I was under the assumption that 25pin SCSI was an Apple design, so does anyone have any ideas as to whether I coudl get this running under XP ?

Any ideas on converters etc ?, or even better anyone know much about the Microtek 330 CX scanner ?

  • Are you sure that model name is right?
I pasted it into google and got 0 results and it doesn't seem to exist on the Microtek site either.

Your right I did, Phantom 330 CX  .

I had a look in the scanner setup utility and it only gives the option of SCSI , so it seems that it is indeed a 25pin SCSI.

So, can I use an adapter at all ?

Also, does anyone know, structually is the 25pin SCSI device different from the 25pin Parallel cable ?

  • 25 pin SCSI and 25 pin parallel are totally different. You'll need a SCSI card and a cable. If you've got neither it would probably be easier and cheaper to go out and buy a USB scanner
