Hi everyone,
Nice to still see the old and new members on here.
I'm still making cakes for family and friends, but have just handed in my notice, full time job/kids just doesn't give enough crafting time!! :rotfl:Can't stand sitting behind a desk all day.
So will be pushing the cake sales again  to keep the OH happy!!
Two orders today :T Just hope they keep coming.A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0 -

Doubt you need PI as you are not manufacturing anything, any claims relating to faulty items should be dealt with by the manufacturer
When you remove any item from it's original packaging you then become the manufacturer when you use it to make nappy cakes etc, there isn't too much that can go wrong when constructing a nappy cake to sell to the public depending of course on the products you use but we live in a claim obsessed society, people will try to sue you for anything so the best thing to do is cover yourselves, so for example if you use pins to secure items to your nappy cakes (some people do) then make sure you stick a warning label to inform your customer that pins have been used and that they need to be careful when dismantling, make slips with the nappy ingredients on to include in your cakes as some babies can be allergic to them, we have had the soft toy debate many times on this forum and others but just as a reminder, all soft toys need to be safe from birth, keep any tag attached to the toy or include it with your cake.
Public liability is a must for any serious business, certainly if you are doing craft and gift fairs as sometimes the organizers can insist you have PL cover, if you are just making for family and friends then you don't need it but if you are selling to the general public it is definitely worth considering, PL it is not a legal requirement if you work for yourself but ensuring that your business is protected against property damage or injury claims is incredibly important.0 -

I have mine custom made, they cost around £1.30 each but if you are wanting your business to look professional then it is worth investing in some proper boxes, nothing worse than a beautiful nappy cake being delivered in a walkers crisp box lol.
I use www.ascdirect.co.uk for my boxes and I use white newspaper for packing, bubble wrap and packing peanuts can work out quite expensive.
Hope that helps.
