Hello
we've stripped our box room (7'7'' x 8'7'') of wood chip paper ... came off ok on 3 walls but a little bit lumpy on the other. One wall has a large double window and the other has the entrance door so those 2 walls including 2 full walls.
We have been quoted £160 for the walls to be skimmed, does this sound about right?

Just wanted to add ... we don't think this is unreasonable but have no idea what sort of quote to expect as this is our first home and just don't wanna be ripped off0

Hello - not an expert but that sounds about right to me. I had most of the walls done in my 3 bed semi recently we paid about the same as you for a similar sized room.0

hi burp - my DH is a plasterer and he works on about £100 - £120/day + materials so I'd agree that it sounds right. I'm assuming you're not having the ceiling done. Also I think that you ought to ask if your plasterer is doing one coat or two coat work (two coat is a more professional finish) and get references too because plastering is notoriously messy & you ought to check up that he's left happy clients behind. You don't want plaster-y footprints up your stairs where he's had to walk up and down getting water for example.0

Thanks for all yoru replies
well we're now going with a different guy who our friend (a builder) uses and he's going to do it on the weekend for us so a week before the mother in law turns up which is a bonusmeans it will dry and be decorated before she comes
2 guys coming ... £250 thats for all the walls and the ceiling which means taking off the artex off the ceiling and replasteringthis quote might seem expensive but we're just glad they can do it asap unlike the others who would've been doing it around the mother in law :rotfl:
