No you haven't, your browser has done what you have got it set to do.

To customize or disable Address bar searches, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.

The following AutoSearch and AutoScan options are available in Internet Explorer 5:

with any web browser you should never se address bar searching, use the search bar(logical is it not?)

unless of course you use google chrome in which case the omnibar is the place to search :T
