Does anyone know of a manufacturing fault with the Vauxhall Signum .. the fuel pump. Apparently its a widely known problem - even been on Watchdog but Vauxhall wont pay for mine as its no longer under warranty! How can I resolve this?

    You've answered your own question!

The signum was Vauxhall's amswer to a question that didn't need answering...

On a more helpful note - what engine have you got? fuel pumps fail on the old 2.0 diesel lump and also on the !!!!!! 1.9 slightly lighter lump too.
  • surely it cant be classed as wear and tear so should be replaced under warranty

Vauxhall have a customer care department who will assist you in this. However, they have a sliding scale of contributions on repairs and this depends on age/mileage and customer loyalty. As you as looking for a goodwill gesture, they evaluate the following

    a) did you buy from a Vx dealership
    b) has it been serviced within the recommendations by a Vx dealership
    c) age of vehicle
    d) mileage of vehicle
    e) is this a recognised 'known concern'

I used to work for them (left 5 years ago) but they always seemed fair in their considerations.

    You should call them.

personally i dont think £380 is very expensive for a diesel fuel injection pump. ive seen fuel lift pumps cost much more than that.

I think you will find this is a bigger problem not cause of the fuel pump cost, but where it is located.

I heard it can cost upto 1500 including labour & parts to sort this, as its an engine out jobby.

This was on a Vectra deisel.

In the end my friend sold his as not working./ non runner to a polish guy!!! lol
