Hi
I sent 500 pounds online from Halifax current account on 16/5/09 to a company who has an account with Deutsche Bank in London. The money was sent by Faster payments and showed as sent.Halifax have sent me the bank statement and also a letter (after i called) saying the money has been sent. All the details are correct (I have checked ) .The receiver says they never got the money and they had enquired at Deutsche bank .The receiver is an international money transfer company who I have used before and many I know are using regularly with no problems, so it is very unlikely they are lying.
Halifax say they cannot do any more and thier responsibily ends with sending me the confirmatory letter.
I have called the banking ombudsmans helpline and they say I can complain about Halifax but they have no jurisdiction over Deutsche Bank even though the branch is in UK.I shall be grateful for any replies
Thanks
Venkat

Ask Halifax for the details of where it was sent and check to make sure they are correct.0

Hi
Lokolo, thanks.
Halifax says money sent to the account and sort code that I entered and I even have a letter from them. They cannot confirm whether the money was received into that account-which I find difficult to understand.I dont know where to go from here.0 -

If you have written confirmation that money was sent correctly by Halifax then you need to now argue this with the recipient.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Halifax can't tell if it hasn't been recieved by the other person. Its like an email. If you send an email you can't tell if the other person has recieved it can you? Its the same with bank transfers.
If the money gets returned (just like an email would if it bounced) then you will know it never got there, not sure how long this would take.
However its upto the new bank to confirm they recieved it. It could either still be in transit or the other bank is lying.0 -
I don't think Deutsche Bank support Faster Payments. Are you sure you used the right sort code?0

Hi
Agsnu
Thanks, Details are correct. And this is not the first time I have sent them money. The question is which regulator can I complain to ? Obviously I can complain against Halifax but not against Deutsche bank as they are not UK regulated. No way I can find out from D Bank where the money went, seems someone got my money but no one knows.0 -

What sort code was it then?
Get Halifax to initiate a trace.0 -
Hi agsnu
The sort code was 23-01-76.After calling Halifax a few times they said they have done their investigation and sent me a letter with transaction details. They said they cannot do any more.I assume this means they have done track and trace etc or not??0 -

Remit2India (the receiver) say they have enquired at deutsche bank and no money has received and have sent me emails confirming this. I think they have no interest in taking it further because they do not owe me any goods etc. They were simply supposed to transfer the money to my client in India once received.
In this case I have no power over remit2india or Deutsche Bank to trace the money and Halifax says they cannot do any more.
