can i claim ????

hi,new to this sort of thing so please bare with me,i`ve just recieved a letter from the alliance and leicester about our ppi on a joint named loan we took out back in may 2005 asking us to review our ppi and our situation,i presume this is to do with the mis-selling of ppi`s,when we applied for the loan we were asked if we wanted ppi, which we did and were told the usual stuff about what it covers etc and so we agreed,it turns out that even though it`s a joint named loan,i`m the only one covered and my wife is`nt, if we defaulted we would be jointly chased therefore it is surely understandable, it was assumed that the cover sold would cover both persons.i presume we have been miss-sold an inadequate policy,is this worth making a claim.
look forward to your replies and thanks for your time.

    Hi there

    Welcome.;)

That's the thing with this type of cover it only mainly protects the first one named on the account. They should have explained this to you from the start as from Jan 2005 I am aware Sales were advised and non advised.

If you think you were mis sold, write to complain and reclaim on your reasons, there is a template below with some useful information, write your own reasons, they have 8 weeks to respond.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

If they don't resolve this by their first response, you may be given the opportunity to write back for them to reconsider, in their final response they should give details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) if your not satisfied with the outcome.

Post by recorded delivery and post for help anytime.;)
