HSBC not paying out on hardship claim

I claimed financial hardship to HSBC recently. I first claimed charges refund in July 07 then got made redundant in August 08 (hence hardship claim).
I filled out and returned a budget form that they recently sent me, I got a letter in the post today saying I should give them a call to discuss my hardship but that MY CLAIM WILL REMAIN ON HOLD UNTIL THE COURT CASE HAS CONCLUDED.
Has anyone had a similar response? Has anyone got any advice?

Give them a call but do not agree to anything over the phone and ask that anything they want to agree to is sent in writing.0
