Cycle Carriers

Apologies is I'm posting in the wrong place but I'm looking for some advise on cycle carriers please.
We're going away for a few days in the UK and thought it might be a good idea to take the kids bikes with us but I really don't have a clue about carriers, we have a vauxhall astra 5 door hatchback 06 plate. Looking to be cheap as probally won't get used again, easy to fit and for 2 bikes, don't want to have to bother with lightning boards/plates so will need a carrier that doesn't obscure the lights/plate, I have seen this on halfords but unsure if it will be anygood or not and does it make it difficult if we were wanting to get into the boot http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_250983_langId_-1_categoryId_165477#dtabs or would I be better looking at roof mounted carriers.
Thanks in advance

That's a low mount one so will obscure your lights and possibly number plate. If you're unlikely to use it again you'd be better off trying to borrow one off a friend or colleague.

You can't get into the boot once a cycle carrier is fitted.

Roof mounted are good but it can be tricky to fit kids bikes to them.

If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

I agree that you should just try and borrow one off a friend. We fitted ours to a fiesta and my word did the car sink down! this was literally with nothing in the boot, so an Astra with kids in the back, a boot full of stuff and bikes on the back, is it really worth it? I'm sure it will be legally safe, its just your fuel economy will drop significantly and you will struggle to get high speed on the motorway probably...
