What do i do?
Hi,
I have recently purchased a car from a local car dealer - the car has just turned 3 years and has been provided with a full MOT and has been serviced according to the stamp in the service book.
I began to have issues with the car almost immediately. The rear wiper doesn't go at all and I couldn't open the boot with the key. The immobiliser also wont let you start the engine about 50% of the time. To allow it to start you have to press the central locking/unlocking button on the central locking fob.
I looked at the fuse board at first to see if there was anything obvious - found that the rear wash fuse did other functions and they were working fine.
I called the garage and explained the situation. They were quite happy to take the car back in and look at it which they did earlier this week. My wife collected the car and when I got home I checked the situation. Nothing had changed just got worse. I now have no heating in the car and the panel that is removed to view the fuses has had one of the hinges broken on it (it doubles up as a pull out starge compartment). I called the garage the next day to highlight the fact that I had no heating and was told I couldn't have had any in the first instance as the electrics doing the wiper work on the same supply. They have booked the car back with them next Thurs when a electrical mechanic will "get the problems sorted".
I now have a car with no heating, rear wiper, sporadic immobiliser.
What do i do?
Any advice frm anyone

Sounds like a case for trading standards - if you have purchased the car recently, was the vehicle of 'merchantable quality' when it was sold?Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

I think I need to give them the opportunity to correct it so maybe next week is the last attempt?
Can I ask for a replacement car as I have no heating now?
many thanks0 -
Were all these things working when you bought it and how recently did you buy it?
Personally I'd take it back and demand a refund - talk to trading standards first to see what entitlements are.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

when I got the car - 2 weeks ago, the heating was working. I never noticed the wipe or the immobiliser cutting in - I didn't test the wiper until the first day and it has never worked for me.0

can i ask if this car is a Renault. I have one, and the immobilser system is a little strange to work. If after the engine has been started, if you remove the key and levae the car without locking it the immob system activates itself after about 30 secs. meaning that when you return to it. you Must lock and the unlock before you can start it again. I think this type is also on other cars as well0

no - the car in question is an MG.
Identical to my previous car which I had for 18mths so I'm very familiar with the workings and what it should and shouldn't do.0
