Should I take anti-malaria pills

I'm of on my hols for Easter - Kerala in India. Staying in a nice hotel in a tourist area etc, so should we take anti-malaria pills.
I would be protecting myself from being bitten, as I have an allergy to their bites so they rarely get through my defenses, but I'm still not sure.
We're not planning any jungle excursions, just lots of r&r.
What do you think?
