no, it's not perverse
...it was actually very touching to watch him take care of his sister one last time, i took some pictures of him sitting over her just after she had passed away and i swear you can see the look of loss and sadness on his little face...in fact i have never seen him with that expression before or since. they definitely feel something...i don't care what anyone says to the contrary 0 -

Stop it now, you're making my eyes well up
I think that they do seem to sense loss. I suppose its like when an owner dies and the animal goes to live somewhere else, or with someone else at the same property, they're never quite the same.
I know that everyone says that dogs cant smile, but im sure mine does :A. I know he's panting, but it looks so much like a smile. His eyes seem to light up too. Or, maybe im just weird :rotfl:I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -

Me too....i dread the day i ever have to make the decision. I'll let them do the desicion making - they'll let me know in their own way i'm sure.:A
No i don't think you are weird - my boy is very calm and docile 90% of the time, but you can tell his every emotion through his eyes and the way he sits or lays, and also when annoyed when my three yr old is wanting to play putting hairbands on him and he doesnt, lol - but ever so patient he'll let her all while looking at me as if to say please stop her.
My girl is very vocal, she'll purr almost if she's cuddleing, high pitched noises when shes happy and low when she's not so happy, she'll litterally walk about 'moaning under her breath'. She also 'smiles' usually when we come home after being out for a whole day but her teeth are shown. But to be fair when she does her tail and bum wiggle left to right so its a clear happy sign not aggresion.
They also reflect off of me, if im depressed/happy/annoyed/content they seem to mirror it. If i cry for any reason, my boy will lay on my lap with his head burried under my arm or wherever he can and the other will lay next to me with her head on me just looking up at me everynow and then. Its weird, they always do it - not that im a cry-baby or anything, lol!:DMummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
Hi,
Im so sorry for your loss. I too must face that day one day as i have two beloved wetsies who are my life and soul.
Iowis - your posting was so sensitive and made me sob. I will try and implement this for my own doggies although it must have been heart rending at the time.
Lots of doggy hugs and good luck for the future.
PlopskyI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
