Does anyone know if online work from home businesses work or are they scams?

The one's you see advertised are generally all scams.
However, if you can find a product, you can do what I do (sell on eBay). Not much of a profit margin though (yet anyway, only started about a week ago).0 -
It is very very rare that you will come across a work-from-home program with any real merit. Almost always, you will be required to provide a financial outlay of some kind to get started. This is for everything from envelope stuffing to MLM (Multi-level marketing Schemes)
The internet is a great resource for researching these things. Put the particular deal in Google & see what pops up. I've been fascinated with scams for years (knowledge is the greatest defence) & you will often find that the scheme is not as they say.
If you come across a work from home scheme, take the promises with a grain of salt. Find out what you will be required to put down initially to get started.
I went to a friends house for an MLM meeting & general product push (it was a favour). I didnt know what I was in for till the words "financial freedom" came out of the speakers mouth. Thank goodness they had finger foods or I would have run for the hills. When someone asked why this isnt sold in stores they said "The quality is so high it would make the prices extortionate". Maybe 15 years ago, the internet has made MLM a very moot point.Debt & Mortgage free...0 -

Or look at the website at https://www.TheBestOpportunity.co.uk
There is a small fee to start up but I got mine back in two weeks, and you set it of against your profit for tax purposes anyway.
I've often seen this sort of thing and wondered what it was all about. Any chance of you giving us a bit more insight?

MLM is multi level marketing, which is network marketing, companies such as Avon , Kleneze, Herbalife, Forever Living... there are lots out there... hope that helps0

I'd suggest the best way to make money from home is to set up a "proper" home based business.
In other words work for yourself and not someone else.
Find a niche in your local area. Maybe your area lacks a laundry service? Place cards in newsagents windows offering to iron a bag of laundry for a tenner (Or whatever). Once established you can get other people to do the ironing for you! Local Mum's who need "pin money" would be a good bet.
You charge a tenner for a bag of laundry and pay the ironer (Is that a real word?) six quid. You make four quid per bag of laundry simply for being an organiser.
Think about it..get five bags of laundry ironed a day that's £20 in your pocket (Before tax). That's over seven grand a year!
You get the idea. The same applies to a lot of other home based businesses.
Cleaning services are always popular and another business where you can get people to do the work on your behalf.
With the summer coming what about mowing people's lawns? Cleaning their ovens etc..etc?
Generally, if you undertake a task that other people don't like and isn't over serviced in your area you'll make really good money.
Two pieces of advice, however:
1. Operate professionally and ethically at all times.
2. It takes time to build up business. Stick at it.
Me? I have a day job but clean carpets/upholstery as a part time business.0 -

And, I guess, party plan but I've tried that and it didn't work for me7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
Two years ago i got involved with a mlm business. I didn't really know what mlm was, but the opportunity sounded like a good idea so i gave it a go. I am as my name suggests a heating engineer and my extra income provides me with a little extra every month for luxuries. The opportunity also allowed me to fit it in round my 9-5...
I was sceptical when i started and since joining have seen many people say its a scam. I have found that people bad mouth these mlm companies when they lose money, can't bring in members or don't really try and expect something for nothing.... Some people just hate MLM
I agree there are some crooks across the web and quick searches via a good search engine should bring up all you need to know about a company or scam.
This is my first and only attempt at mlm apart from referring my mother to greasypalm. I earn approximately £350 per month and even recruited my other half to optimise our income.
In all honesty though i would say as a novice i did find it hard to recruit at first and the cheques did not always reflect the work done to recruit. Remeber in all businesses there has to be an outlay to get an income.
Do your homework before joining anything.
I wish you well and i hope you find a good business0 -

Obviously not.
That is exactly what worries me about these things - the secretive lack of up front info.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

The problem with MLM is that we can only offer a small amount of info on here. MLM is referral based and to comply with MSE terms and conditions we cannot promote our business here.
WHAT INFO WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW???
Links like the "businessopportunity" in an earlier post is known as a lead capture page. The idea is that he/ she gets your details and sends you info about the opportunity with a view to you joining. A popular way of promoting MLM businesses.
MLM is not a bad industry, but some companies in the past have let their members down or generally been a scam, but then again there is nothing to stop the company you work for going bust overnight...
Simply do some research via a good search engine and look up MLM, internet marketing etc... There are a lot of UK based companies that have been around for a while who are reputable and the research part will help you find out which ones are the good ones.
Hope that helps0
