The bank's push and push their staff, even turning a blind eye to certain practices, and when they step across the line and get caught; bang you're gone!0 -
Since there is no signed credit agreement in place, perhaps the OP should have given the card a serious bashing. Then when asked for payment hit the bank with a CCA (Consumer Credit Agreement) request ... :rotfl:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Thanks everyone for your responses. Just a quick update:
Got a letter of apology earlier assuring me the card would be cancelled. They said that if I sent them a copy of my credit report showing the items in question, they would remove them (something to do with the Data Protection Act preventing them from viewing the report themselves). They also deposited £20 in my account (unprovoked) to pay for the credit reports. I have to say I'm impressed that the letter arrived about 24 hours after my meeting.
Obviously I'll need to see how well they deal with the cancellation and correcting my credit report, but based on my experience so far I'll be leaving my account with them in the meantime.0 -
I forgot to mention zkw, I had to show RBS a copy of my credit report too, to get them to remove the searches.0

I forgot to mention zkw, I had to show RBS a copy of my credit report too, to get them to remove the searches.
Why?
If you give the Data Controller of the company information on the date the search was conducted, the address used and what agency why do they need to see your entire report?
I had 2 companies remove searches from my file by just giving them this information. (I did report one to the information commissioner for ignoring my original letter about something else.)I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
It wasn't the entire report, and I took it to the branch manager when I was making my complaint. All it showed on the pages I took in were the searches that were conducted. He didn't ask for it specifically, but since I had it with me I didn't have any problems leaving him with a page full of RBS credit searches.0
