i'm always cynical of the rave reviews that computer-active give to aldi computing products. coincidentally aldi take out a 4 page advert in the same magazine.

That is why I did not bother posting it earlier.

These recent PC's from Aldi just sit on the shelf for months.

The rest of the Aldi computer stuff is not a bargain either....

Such as the 250GB external HDD for £99.99 much cheaper ones elsewhere.

I was looking at this PC, i got the flyer with the free local paper,
why is it not a bargain? can you recommend a better spec pc for a similar price?
the other pc i was looking at was this one from dell priced at £929.12 and comes with a 19" monitor, and free double (2048mb) memory for a limited time only, but only 1 years return to base warranty, Aldi's comes with 3 years warranty, if they can't fix it over the phone, they will send a engineer out the next day. Can you recommend any other pc's with a similar or better spec for the same money.

This is a great PC. I bought one last time round before Christmas as I had just blown my existing PC up and I needed a new one there and then.

I have had no problems with it, even when I am running hungry applications like Adobe Photoshop CS2, Edition 5 video editing and it is even pretty good with Games - Gun, F.E.A.R. and Quake 4 all running at a good FPS. If you want to play games at the best possible settings with the fastest fps then we all know you can pay £750 alone for a pair of cutting edge SLI graphics cards.

The system is whisper quiet, looks good, has the display which makes it great as a media player. Plus with the remote control and the numerous AV connections including scart (yes, SCART!) on the back, this sits alongside any AV set-up you may have. Incidentally re: the previous posters comments regarding HD, this PC has DVI which most HD ready TVs have - HD is ready now on PCs, the only place it is currently available (come on SKY - I'm ready to be ripped off......yet again).

With regards to the external HDD, I agree, there are cheaper ones, but this is specifically designed for this PC and fits in to a bay at the top of the PC requiring no cables to connect it - its the usual pay off for design issue.

All in all, I have no hesitation in recommending this PC - any buyers will not be disappointed.

A warranty is only as good as the back up. After my recent purchase of a dvd player direct from Medion I would never ever buy anything medion again.
They are so unbelievable the way they organise returns and when you ring them they cant be bothered to speak to you, they pass the buck.

got the flyer as well... disappointed with the prices for a lot of the stuff on there. no real bargins to be had.

this pc is not expensive, but spec wise... 1gb ram (only 1 bank free for upgrading), 128mb 6700 series gfx, on board sound, etc, etc... it's certainly past current.

The dell grabit posted earlier this week... Dell 5150 £449 with P4 HT, 19" and ATI (merged)... now that was a bargin, especially when some lucky people got them dual core and with 19" tft for sub £400.

I'm going to wait for another one of those as I missed out on the Dell.

I certainly don't think that is a great deal. The parts are worth no-where near that and no monitor? If you only want to do general internet surfing, bit of webdesign etc do yourself a favour and get a dell widescreen laptop for about £350 - OH got his a few days ago online and it's brilliant. No way would I pay that much for a base.

I bought the base unit last year. Its ok, but I had a couple of major parts which where faulty and Medion replaced them within a week. I mostly bought this pc for the 36 month warranty.

What I am surprised about is the fact they hav'nt lowered the price . I paid £750 for the base unit 4 months ago, and pc parts are being lowered in price all the time. So for the £750 they should added more RAM and a bigger hard drive or lowered the price :mad:
