How much spending money for Egypt?

Hi

Just looking for a rough guide really. Going to Taba with my husband on 23rd June for 1 week (for our 25th wedding anniversary:eek:). Going to Movenpick Resort All Inclusive and not really going to be moving far from the hotel as I believe it is quite remote.
We usually go self catering as a family, apart from the year before last when we went to Turkey AI with our then 11 year old youngest. We probably spent around £300 but that was mainly on our son for henna tattoos, presents, clothes etc.
Is it cheap in Egypt? How much spending money would you take for 2 adults for 1 week? Is it best to take currency with us or travellers cheques or sterling
Thanks in advance for any hints and tips.

I went to Egypt in Jan and got my currency in UK, friends got a better rate with travellers cheques in Luxor & Aswan banks about 1 extra Egyptian pound per sterling pound than I got. Loads of places accept sterling, and you get a good rate on purchases they dont like coins though. Cant imagine things would have changed much in the last few months so would reckon you would be OK with a couple of hundred sterling, if you are all inc. Be prepared to haggle for everything, its expected.0
