IE8 worth installing?

Options
I keep getting messages to download the newest version of IE. I like to stay up to date but having read what extras v8 has to add above v7 it seems its just a load of irritataing toolbars for messenger etc

Is it worth installing and what will it really add to my browsing experience?

I would stick to v7 and use Firefox to be friendly to yourself.

IE8 is slow - one thing I found over the last couple of days whilst re-installing - it seems on Vista at least, that IE8 was okish in terms of speed until I stuck SP2 for vista on and it went cranky as it was before I re-installed. Some major sites like gmail, yahoo mail have problems with IE8 (its not good).

Its trying to be too much (too many gimmicks- compatibility view - who cares just do it dont bother asking me about compatibility view and wot not).

Stick to IE7 is my recommendation till Microsoft fix and update IE8.

Windows 7 might work better with IE8 but from what I seen of windows 7, I would rather stick to vista.

I install the latest versions of any Microsoft software I have as a matter of course, but I don't necessarily use any of it. The day IE8 became available, I installed it and carried on using Firefox. :D

Think of it as yet another security update.

You can delay installing IE8, but after a few months it will be almost compulsory to install it, since support for IE7 and earlier will not exist. And think of all the wonderful new features you're getting (like 'better' security!)...

I installed IE8 yesterday and it seems OK. One or two useful little improvements, but nothing special. I flit between IE and FF depending on my mood. I don't find either particularly quick, and they both have little features which are useful.
If you will the end, you must will the means.
