Cancel a debit card?

Options
Hi, i'm sorry if i've posted this in the wrong section!

I currently have a Student account with Lloyds TSB. I applied for it in August 2007 as i was off to University in September 2007. I ended up leaving University in January 2008.
Since then i have kept the Lloyds debit card and just used it as a normal card for my work wages etc.

I'm going back to University in September 2009 but i no longer want my student account on Lloyds, i want to go with Natwest.
Natwest have told me i need to cancel my Lloyds card and then bring proof that it's cancelled.

I have online banking with Lloyds but i can't find any option on there in which to cancel. Is there a telephone number?
I don't want to go to to my local branch incase they pressure me into staying with them.

Any help appreciated! Thanks.

Cut up the debit card and cheques - send half of each back to the bank together with a letter asking for closure of the account.
You can either ask them to send you a cheque for the balance or send them a pre printed BGC slip for them to pay you at a different bank.

Pop into branch with card, chequebook and anything else you may have and they will close it. BEWARE what will you do if Natwest decline you an account? Do you have a good credit rating?
    Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500

Natwest don't actually need for it to be closed, they just need it to not be a student account. The card is irrelevant.

Just ask Lloyds TSB to change it to a standard current account.

No worries or hassle about closing it then.
