AVIVA - Defined Returns Fund 1

Has anyone checked this new offer out? It is a three year fund offering 8% interest per year depending on FT on 7th August 2009 (starting date) then each year same date so 3 years should have 24% interest.
I have been told by lady who handed me the booklet that in her opinion this fund will mature at the end of 12 months so many are interested. BUT if you read booklet it seems to contradict the facts stated, page 5 key benefits "you will receive the return of your initial investment even if the FT 100 index has fallen by up to 50% at maturity - then on next page it states the exact opposite.
I am no expert! but savings interest is so low must say 8% sounds good - then again I always follow the advice "if it sounds too good to be true" - probably is - would appreciate any advice please - thoughts, comments.

You can get better than 8% on the whole of market. Only just a bit better but with Premier and NDFA not far away from launching their new versions I would wait for those first.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
