Home Phone+Orchid Dialler+Slow ADSL speeds

Hello everyone,
I have had a Orchid dialler for a few years now and have been very happy with the call cost savings and its maintenance free operation. However I am beset with interrmittent line dropping problems causing the adsl to re-sync and BT`s exchange system downgrades my sync rate, resulting in lower adsl speeds. My ISP provider Zen has been very helpful in trying to pinpoint the source of the problem.Today they ran tests with phone removed/adsl removed/ADL nation face plate removed/orchid dialler removed and phone line direct into master BT test socket(we have no extension phone sockets). The out come appears to suggest either a ADSL nation faceplate problem or a problem with the orchid dialler.Has anyone else experienced problems with the orchid dialler and noise on the phone line?

Does the problem vanish when you remove the dialler?
If you have noise on the line when phone is plugged directly into the BT master test socket, then you need to get BT to test your line, any problems on that part of the line (i.e. upstream of the master socket) are down to them and nothing to do with you or your ISP.

Their 'latest dialler'? I was under the impression they were running down their stock of the old version.

No matter, Kevin's spreadsheet shows exactly how it will be programmed then (with the exception of your home STD code which you'll have to change yourself).

Orchid got a few things slightly wrong in the Routing Rules table when they interpreted the program but that won't affect the unit's operation. Specifically, Rules 13, 14 and 17 are totally unnecessary! That is because Rule 12 covers the dialling of all 08 numbers except those with more digits (Orchids work on a 'longest number string' principle) which are specified in other Rules. Hence, dialling 080, 0844 and 0871 numbers is covered by Rule 12 and there's no need for other rules to route them.
