Is blog private?

Can someone tell me if blog is private meaning people don't know who you are? I noticed on some blogs when you want to contact the blogger it shows that persons email address. Can this be avoided?

Create a new email and sign up with that.

Most blog websites give you the option whether you want to show email address.
It's at the blog owner's discretion whether he set's this on or off
And, as timbim says, you can also sign up a google email
