Revision Sites for Uni Degree?

Hiya,

I'm in my second year of Biochemistry (medical) and wondered if there are any revision sites out there focused on courses such as mine or science at a degree level??

Exams soon and I'm not looking forward to them! :o

  • Just go out and buy Stryers Biochemistry and Instant notes in Biochemistry.. you can't revise a degree like biochem from websites. Unless you're counting journals

Don't your lecturers put copies of their notes online?

If the course is set and assessed by your uni then an off-the-shelf book is not going to be much use.

It would be a lot better to go to your course head and ask them for their suggestions.
  • The textbooks do help, esp. stryer and instant notes. Theres another book called medical biochemistry my gf used. Thats where the lecturers get there lecture material from. My lecturers have permission to sue the diagrams in handouts. Couldn't do a dgeree without the core textbooks.

The textbooks have revision website info inside them with a password inside the book usually

  • I was quite lucky, as my lecturers were the guys who wrote Instant notes to Molecular biology.. guess what my lecture notes all suspiciously looked like?

The ONLY way to get good marks in a bioscience degree is to learn how to read journals and papers. They will be your saviour in your 3rd year. Learn how to use the NCBI publications website and make sure you know what journals your uni subscribe to.

Remember - you can get ANY paper ever published if you submit a interlibrary request - when i did it, it cost a pound and you get a photocopied version of the paper.. i'm sure if you found the right papers you could save photocopying costs. Thankfully, most papers are now in PDF format.

I personally found review papers an excellent revision aid. They would usually give a roundup of all the recent papers on a subject but in a more concise and readable format.
