want to purchase gift card of ebay am i protected??

Hi Im not sure if someone will be able to advise me, I am looking at purchasing a gift card or gift vouchers from ebay to give to my husband as a birthday presant on monday. The only reason im looking at purchasing off ebay is because I have built up some money in my paypal account and it will allow me to by my husband a gift from my own money rather that our money if you know what I mean, also with his birthday being monday I dont really have the time to transfer to my account either.
If I purchase a gift card or voucher form ebay am I buyer protected under paypal, What if an empty envelope turns up is that covered under paypal. Just want some advice on if im covered or not. Thanks

It's a tricky one - although the empty envelope scam is not as common as most people think. It may be worth looking at other online stores that take Paypal - Boots for example. Either order a gift or vouchers direct from them if you have hesitations on buying via eBay.

There are restrictions on buyer protection on vouchers, so it is imperitive to chekc the seller feedback. and see if they have got any pointless T&C's - not repsonsible if lost in the post etc.

I've bought some M&S vouchers in the past and had them sent to my Gran. She thought it was some sort of honour from the Vatican when she misread the "Papal" invoice printout that was sent with them!

Hi, i bought some Next vouchers on e-bay just before christmas to use in the sales, i bought one for 35.00. When i got to paying at Next (huge cue behind me) the 35.00 voucher came up as 5.00, i went home and e-mailed the seller, had no reply so i put in a claim through paypal, within a few weeks i was refunded but it was so much hastle that i wont be buying vouchers online again.
