phone/broadband advice

Hi..

need line rental/broadband for a house we're just about to move into..problem is its quite rural & I'm told by O2 that the exchanges not been 'unbundled?' hence they want to charge me additional cash...tisali/talktalk were the same..

anyone an ideas of any deals that will apply to a rural area like this?

thanks

    cheers....it says this

Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.

The following services are available in your location:
    BT Wholesale ADSL
    BT Wholesale ADSL Max

Please select the options on the left for more information about broadband availability at your location.

with little red crosses against O2/talktalk..infact all those types have red crosses

Well I'm afraid it means you are limited to ISPs reselling BT's wholesale service, so the lowest cost options will not be available. Probably worth looking at Plusnet if you don't mind an 18 month contract. The price will go up after the first 3 months as it won't be a "Market 3" exchange.

That's for the unlimited package-you can get Plusnet Value (not market 3) for £22.94pm incl. line rental.
BT Wholesale resellers tend to be around the same price, because they're all buying from BT at the same price.

    ok..thanks for this info
  • Plusnet looks your best choice. £16.94 for the first three months, then £22.94 for remaining 15 months, averages £ 21.94 per month over their 18 month contract.

As well as broadband, this does include:
    Line Rental.
Evening & Weekend calls to UK landlines.
Free calls to Plusnet Home Phone customers.
300 minutes (Evening & Weekend) to 20 top international destinations.
    Voicemail.
Free calls to Plusnet Broadband Support.

Plusnet are a BT Wholesale reseller, but are also owned by BT.

Go with BT and get an Orchid dialer. Set it to send all calls via 18185.

Plusnet also let you use 18185 with their phone service, so you don't have to use BT.

Also, if you're signing up to Plusnet, go through Quidco and get another £50 off.
