Amazon wrong item/misprice and taken payment - help please

Hello. I don't know what to do here, apart from get what I originally ordered if possible, so any advice would be appreciated. I can see some people on these boards may think I'm not entitled to it but I'm not going to give up without at least a bit of a fight .

At the beginning of April, I was looking for a Camcorder and found what I thought was exactly the type on Amazon (not Amazon marketplace) but also heavily discounted (or, as is admittedly more likely mispriced!). The model I was looking for was a SD Camcorder which I found on Amazon for £42.58 so I ordered one of them ("Samsung F33 16GB SD Flash Camcorder - Blue, (34 Optical zoom, 2.7" wide LCD, H.264 recording, Still Image Capture, 3 Hours Battery,") even though as a brand new item, they were out of stock awaiting delivery (I was in no rush, especially at this price).

I did do some checking online and the same camera (i.e. Samsung F33 16GB) was available elsewhere for about £200 so I thought I'd got a bargain.

Anyway, I got the order confirmation email saying they'd let me know when in stock so I just had to wait. Whilst waiting, I also bought a camcorder bag (order date 21/04) to put my new toy in once it arrived.

Last week, I was excited to receive a dispatch email from Amazon (again with confirmation that it was for
"Samsung F33 16GB SD Flash Camcorder - Blue, (34 Optical zoom, 2.7" wide LCD, H.264 recording, Still Image Capture, 3 Hours Battery,") and I received the Amazon package this morning. When I opened the box, it didn't contain a camcorder but some "bluetooth telephone" and when I went back into my confirmation emails, the link on Amazon has now changed to a completely different item (Jabra SP700 Bluetooth Speakerphone).

The Samsung F33 is also now showing as an 8GB SD Camcorder and the 16GB model is now actually shown as a Samsung F34!

They've taken my money for an item they've confirmed time and time again was a Samsung F33 16GB so what are my rights? I'd be happy with the 8GB model to be honest.

I did send Amazon an email this morning to explain the situation and received an email back, summarised as follows:-

I understand that you have placed the order for the item "Samsung F33 16GB SD Flash Camcorder - Blue, (34 Optical zoom, 2.7" wide LCD, H.264 recording, Still Image Capture, 3 Hours Battery,)" but received the item "Jabra SP700 Bluetooth Speakerphone". We build our website information from many sources, and we really appreciate knowing about any errors or issues that have been overlooked. I have forwarded your message to the relevant department so that this item's details can be amended correctly. If you’d like to give similar feedback in the future you’ll find the Online Catalogue Update Form under the heading "product details" on an item’s main page. You'll see two links labelled "update product info" and ‘give feedback on images’. I understand that you want us to create a replacement for the correct item. In this case, If I create a replacement order for this item you will again receive the same item. However, I have checked the item "Samsung F33 16GB SD Flash Camcorder - Blue, (34 Optical zoom, 2.7" wide LCD, H.264 recording, Still Image Capture, 3 Hours Battery,)" on our website and see that currently this item is unavailable from our suppliers. Because of this reason, this item is currently not listed on our website. Although the item might be available on our website from third party sellers, we are unable to source items from them. However, we will be happy to issue a full refund for this order.

I've not responded to this yet but will do so once I know what to say, hopefully with some advice on here.

Sorry for droning on and thanks to all who've got this far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Amazon's telephone helpdesk is usually really good - give them a ring on 08002796620

I think what they're saying is that they don't have the camcorder to send you, so they're offering a refund. I'm not sure that anything can be done about that and I don't think they could do anything more under the circumstances.

Op: Amazon has explained the cause of inconvenience caused. And offered you a full refund.

Considering that MSE is choc full of posts from consumers who (a) never even hear from a supplier and (b) when they do, don't get an explanation and (c) not even a mention of a refund, I think you're doing pretty well.

    Yes, it's a hassle, but no-one's infallible.
