Travelodge ... A Con ........

Comments

  • These Travelodge deals are a great buy - as you obviously agree.

Why call it a 'con' just because you are not prepared to comply with the Travelodge requirements?

I suggest you either pay the full price or get another card. We have used Nationwide and Barclay debit cards with no problems.

Where does this im not prepared to comply with travelodges requirements crap come from ! Talk sense man

FACT ITS A CASE AS USUAL IN THIS COUNTRY OF SQUEEZING EVERY LAST B PENNY OUTTA OF THEIR CUSTOMERS... AND YES I WILL AGAIN SAY THAT WORD AGAIN ..... CON .....

    The definition of "con" is:

    deprive of by deceit;

At no time have Travellodge deceived you. They have merely declined to complete your transaction with them based on the fact their terms mean that they cannot accept your particular card.

As another poster has pointed out, couldn't you use a friend's or relative's card to book?
  • er hang on . they do accept my particular card and i have booked rooms in the past on several occasions , they even take a payment over the hotel hotel reception ... so why not the £10 rooms beyond me ...anyhow thread ended folks does me tree in !
  • oh and last bit .. why should i use other peoples cards ...not the point.... travelodge take the payment when it suites them ... FACT

Well - that got Travelodge a load more of good publicity.

  • I'm only a simple guy and like to keep things that way.. I either comply with an offer's conditions or I walk away. I don't try and impose my own conditions.

Obviously this is an exceptional offer being made by Travelodge and I suspect they are getting sufficient reservations. Card issuers charge for their services; some more than others. If any Company decides to only accept certain 'cards' I believe it's up to them. I also believe the offer is made on the basis of pre-payment and no refund. This perhaps does not comply with some cards. It's Travelodge making the offer and up to me to accept or refuse.

I'm glad you agree it's not a 'con' as their is definitely nothing close to swindle involved - perhaps the OP should be more careful when making this implication about Travelodge.

I don't know whether making such an untrue defamatory headline regarding Travelodge is against Forum policy.Should the headline be pulled or changed

Just offering a positive solution to get your £10 room by someone booking it for you. i wont bother next time!
You're obviously more interested in the principle of them not liking your card than saving money. Have you tried https://www.mrangry.com? or try MacDonalds and get yourself a happy meal. Don't bother replying, i wont read it!
    Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j

Good suggestion - the OP started with a valid point but is now getting stroppy with everyone. Unfortunately, I got: "http://www.mrangry.com is not available. Please check again soon."

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

I offered the suggestion of a friend or relative booking, but i now believe the OP has lost the plot slightly, and any offers of help dont seem to be appreciated.
  • It seems my original comments antagonised the OP.

I was only trying to point out that when a Company makes any 'offer' you must comply with any conditions, however you can ( as you suggested perhaps, use a friends card etc) OR walk away. But don't whinge and suggest that a genuine offer is a 'con'.
